From Little Red Riding Hood to Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, red has always been a great color. It can remind us of our favorite childhood characters, as in the aforementioned examples, or can signal a warning as in a stop sign, or a fire engine, but red is also one of the most powerful colors because it is how we show our support for Heart Disease and Stroke Awareness in Women. Friday is National Wear Red Day to show support for the survivors, as well as the patients and families of those currently battling. At ISC Mt. Laurel, we want to show our support for these families, so Friday, during Family Fun Night from 5-7:30 pm, we encourage all of our guests to wear their red!
How Many Women Are Affected by Heart Disease and Stroke?
The numbers are staggering. One in three women will be killed by heart disease or stroke, more than all cancers combined. We want to help the effort to raise awareness of this terrible disease so the women and their families can get the support and treatment they need.
How Does Wearing Red Help the Cause?
Have you ever heard the saying, “knowledge is power?” This is very true for this movement. Few people are aware of just how many women heart disease affects, and by starting a movement, the Wear Red Organization hopes to draw attention to this to gain support.
So, please come to Family Fun Night on February 5th, and wear your red! It could be just the initiative someone needs to learn more and spread the word. To find out more about Family Fun Night, contact us.
